EPHEMERALIZATION

I was reading Robert Kiyosaki’s book, Rich Dad’s Prophecy the other day. It is a book on investing, and how the biggest stock market crash in history is just about the corner, and how one can profit from it.

In the book, Kiyosaki talks about how Dr. Buckminster Fuller (the guy who invented the Geodesic Dome, and one of the most brilliant minds in history) had a theory whereby he could predict the future. It is called theory of Ephemeralization.

Robert Kiyosaki uses the Titanic is a simple example of Ephemerealization:

A long time ago, thousands of years before the Titanic was built, people figured out that since logs float, if you were to hang onto a log in the water you could float downstream. Soon after that, humans figured that if you hollow out the log, you can climb inside, and the dugout canoe was born. Then came boats that were lighter and faster, made out planks and a rib construction and sails. The wooden ships increased in size, until the battle of the Monitor and the Merrimac introduced the first ships made out of iron. When steel construction was introduced, ships grew into behemoths of the oceans, carrying armaments, passengers and goods to the seven continents. Business people started investing in these giant boats, making them bigger and bigger, and then someone figured “Hey! Let’s make a giant floating fortress that will have all the luxuries of a five star hotel and will be unsinkable”….then the Titanic disaster happened.

Ephemeralization is the process of starting small, growing bigger, becoming too big, then small again, and suddenly disappearing or becoming invisible, as in the case of wireless communications.

Sometimes the end of growth is marked by a disaster as in Titanic, and the giant airship The Hindenburg. According to doctor Fuller, when technology grows too large, it becomes too hard to maneuver. People believed that the ships were unsinkable, until the Titanic disaster, and waiting on the wings were the airplanes. The airline industry was in its infancy, and was destined to take over ships as the preferred method of transportation.

The day after the Twin Towers disaster, an ad for a an airplane ran in a New York newspaper opposite to the image of the smoldering towers. The ad read: “Don’t think of it as an aircraft, think of it as a hotel”. The airplane featured hotel suites instead of seats, and shopping malls. 9-11 marked the end of the aircraft industry, and of the skyscraper as a symbol of industrial power. The attack on pentagon signaled the end of American hegemony.

One of doctor Fuller’s predictions was that after 1957, the year the Russians launched Sputnik 1, the first satellite, all new technological breakthroughs would be invisible (solid state circuits and microchip technology) to the human eye.

“After 9-11, airline industries, hotels and car rentals are in decline. A new technology is about to emerge. Fuller said that if the new technology wasn’t invisible, the technology would get smaller, as it did in the case of the smaller business jets.”

The problem presented by the rising invisible economy, as manifested by the Internet, YouTube, music download programs etc. is the fact that these things are extremely hard to regulate. As the invisible economy gets bigger, governments will lose control. How do you tax it? How do you regulate it? Everybody had better start reading Who Moved My Cheese?

I LIKE CLOWNS.

WHEN I WAS A KID I USED TO SEE THE CLOWNS GOOFING AROUND IN THE CIRCUS. THEY HAD NO MONEY, AND THEY WERE REALLY DIRTY. THE CLOWNS SMELLED BAD, AND WOULD TEACH US KIDS CARD TRICKS AND SOMETIMES THEY’D LET US GO WITH THEM TO PICK UP ROTTED VEGETABLES IN THE MARKET TO MAKE SOUP.

I TRULY BELIEVE THAT CLOWNS ARE DEMONIC. THEY ARE DEMONS THAT PROTECT LITTLE CHILDREN.
JUST LOOK AT
JERRY LEWIS. HE WAS A CLOWN WHO WORE NO MAKEUP AND HIS KIDS LOVED HIM.
CLOWNS ARE EXTRAORDINARY. THEY DO GOOFY, MAGICAL THINGS AND THERE ARE MANY SPECIAL TECHNIQUES THAT CLOWNS USE IN THEIR ACTS, WHICH ARE TOP SECRET AND ONLY KNOWN TO THEM. CLOWNS ARE LIKE GARGOYLES. THEY ARE SO GOOD BECAUSE THEY LOOK POSITIVELY EVIL.

CLOWNS HAVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF GOOD LUCK. SO MUCH SO IN FACT THAT IF SOMEONE LAYS A CURSE ON A CLOWN, THE CURSE WILL COME OUT BACKWARD AND WILL TURN INTO A BLESSING INSTEAD.

SOME BAD CLOWNS:

PENNYWISE, THE CLOWN FROM “IT”
JOHN WAYNE GAYCE, A.K.A POGO THE CLOWN
INSANE CLOWN POSSE
KOKO THE CLOWN
HOMEY D CLOWN (OKAY, HE’S ACTUALLY GREAT)
SHAKES THE CLOWN (ALSO GREAT)

MAYBE THIS IS WHY PEOPLE SUFFER FROM COULROPHOBIA, WHICH IS THE FEAR OF CLOWNS. SUFFERERS OF THIS CONDITION COMPLAIN OF TERRIBLE ANXIETY ATTACKS TRIGGERED BY THE SIGHT OF THE HEAVY MAKEUP, BULBOUS NOSE, GIANT SHOES AND STRIDENT COLORED HAIR OF CLOWNS.

I KNEW A GIRL WHO WAS A HUGE ELVIS PRESLEY FAN, AND WAS AFRAID TO DEATH OF BALLOONS, WHICH IS ALMOST AS SAD AS BEING AFRAID OF CLOWNS.

I LOVE PAINTINGS OF CLOWNS. MY MOTHER HAD TWO BEAUTIFUL CLOWN PAINTINGS IN MY ROOM WHEN I WAS A KID, AND TO THIS DAY I AM AN AVID COLLECTOR OF CLOWN PAINTINGS.
